El Figaro BENETEAU 3 It is the first one-design monocoque with standard foils ever imagined.. Technology and innovation concentrate, It is the result of a collaboration between the best experts from the BENETEAU group and the Van Peteghem Lauriot-Prévost architectural firm (VPLP), architects of the last three winning ships of the Vendée Globe. The prototype has been tested and the serial construction of the ship has been launched. Enter the A ISO / World Sailing design category.
THE “FOILS”
Contrary to the "foils" of the Imoca 60, the foils of the FB3 will have an inward facing profile. Its operation is different : These are multi-purpose foils that generate anti-drift and improve the moment to straighten the boat without increasing displacement., which improves the performance of the boat.
THE KEEL
Deep, with a narrow veil, generates minimal wake. The antiderivative complement is provided by the "foils".
THE Hull
Made of foam sandwich, fiberglass and polyester resin, responds to current designs. The ballasts have disappeared.
The cargo notebook defines the FB3 as a monotype as reliable as its predecessor, the FB2. It is provided with "foils", of a more effective hull and freed from the ballast, of a finer and deeper keel, a setback mast and a more assorted and larger sail plane.
MAST AND SAIL PLANE
As in the Imoca 60, the set mast, guaranteeing a balance under sail, allows to adopt more effective candles, and a boom is added. Solitaires will sail with a square mainsail on top, a genoa and a jib, but also a head spi (105m2 to achieve speed in light winds) and a little gennaker.
Mainsail surface : 39.5 m²
Focus surface : 30.5 m²
Large spi surface : 105 m²
